Kuta is a coastal town in southern Bali, located very close to Seminyak and Canggu. As the two previous ones, it belongs to the regency of Badung and stands out for being a fishermen’s village and for having some excellent beaches for surf lovers. Kuta is located near the international airport Ngurah Rai and Denpasar, the capital of the island.

In Kuta, all the services are focused on the travelLers who want a holiday as a couple, with friends or family and searching for parties, surfing, spas, sunbathing in resorts near the beach, or shopping in exotic malls.

Given its proximity to the airport, good connections to most of the towns on the island and affordable prices, it may be a good option to spend a few days in Kuta when arriving or leaving Bali. Also, there is a great offer of spas to have a nice treatment and activities like the Waterbom Bali park.

Kuta is a place with a lot of energy and a lot of entertainment, which you can combine with a few more quiet days in Ubud or any northern town, where the atmosphere is more relaxed and there are not so many tourists.

From the airport

Kuta is situated practically next to the airport, about 10 minutes away by car. Even though it’s only a few kilometers from Ngurah Rai International Airport, you have to take a taxi. The best thing to do is to take a taxi from Blue Bird, the official taxi company in Bali, and ask the driver to start the meter.

Another option that may be necessary in case you arrive at an unusual time is to take an unofficial taxi and bargain over the price before getting into the car.

Moving around Kuta and its surroundings

The most popular option among tourists is the motorbike, as it is easy to rent one and move around any time and place. Another option is the taxi, for comfort. If you want to travel to other towns more economically, you can use the shuttle bus from Perama Tours, Trans Sarbagita or Kura-Kura companies from the station located in the center of the city. From Kuta, you will find connections to most of the main destinations in Bali. We advise you to check the timetables on the 12go.asia website, before organizing your routes, because there are no daily buses for some destinations.

As it is located on the coast, Kuta stands out for the activities that take place nearby at the beach, and, unlike other towns, it is not so famous for having important landmarks. Still, there are plenty of things to see and do in Kuta. Here are some options.

Surfing or swimming at Kuta beaches

The south of Bali island is known for its beaches where there is a great variety of activities. During the day you can enjoy water sports like surfing or going on sightseeing tours, while at night you can find parties.

Some good examples of this type of beach are Segara Beach, Kuta Beach, Legian Beach, and Double Six Beach. If you start from the south, very close to the airport, and walk along the beach towards the northwest, the name of the beach changes even though it seems to be the same.

The first one in the south is Segara Beach, which has a quiet and familiar atmosphere and is perfect for watching the sunset and enjoying good views. This is followed by Kuta Beach, which is ideal for the most famous activity in the area: surfing. This is also an area with many shops, restaurants, pubs, and resorts. Further northwest you can find Legian Beach and Double Six Beach, which are also surfing beaches and just as busy as Kuta Beach.
