ISLANDS NEAR BALI

Indonesia has more than 17,000 islands, and Bali is one of the most visited by tourists. However, around Bali, there are other beautiful islands that are worth a visit. If you have enough time, you can combine your travel to Bali with a trip to one of the Nusa islands (Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan, and Nusa Ceningan) or to the Gili Islands (Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno, and Gili Air). THE THREE NUSA

The three Nusa islands (Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan, and Nusa Ceningan), located east of Denpasar, are small paradises easily accessible from Bali. The three Nusa islands are part of the Klungkung regency and are located approximately 20 kilometers from the island of Bali. To reach any of them, you have to take a fast boat from the Sanur or Padangbai harbors. The journey takes about 45 minutes.

Nusa Penida

Nusa Penida is the largest of the three Nusa and is the best known among travellers visiting Bali. In Nusa Penida, you can visit many amazing places and do many activities. You can find paradisiacal beaches like Kelingking Beach, Broken Beach, Atuh Beach or Crystal Bay, cliffs, natural pools like Angel’s Billabong, waterfalls and temples. Also, in Nusa Penida, you can surf, snorkel or dive, jump from cliffs and swim with manta rays.

Nusa Lembongan

Nusa Lembongan is a smaller island than Nusa Penida, but larger than its neighbor Nusa Ceningan. Nusa Lembongan is an island of 8 square kilometers with paradisiacal beaches and dreamy coves. Some of the best beaches in Nusa Lembongan are Dream Beach, Mushroom Bay, and Paradise Beach. In addition to the beaches, you can find an area of mangroves and impressive cliffs. Just like Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan has several great snorkelling spots, surfing points for all levels and kayaking trips in the mangroves to the north of the island.

Nusa Ceningan

Nusa Ceningan is the smallest island of the Nusas archipelago and is the most peaceful of all. Within the 3 square kilometers that this little island has, you can see important natural places. Blue Lagoon is the best-known spot of Nusa Ceningan. It is a lagoon with intense pastel blue waters. Besides, this island has some dreamy beaches like Secret Beach and some underwater statues that you can see while snorkelling.

Gili islands

The Gili Islands are a small archipelago belonging to Lombok, an island located east of Bali. Gili is the name given locally to the small islands around the main island. Around the island of Lombok, there are more than 50 gilis. Still, three of them are more touristic and more popular: Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno, and Gili Air. These three islands are a small paradise surrounded by white beaches and turquoise waters where the main attractions are snorkelling and diving. The Gili Islands are accessible from Bali by fast boat, and the trip takes about 2-3 hours.
